A little background information about myself first – trust me you need it to understand why this is funny. So I have been living here in the US for 3 years now, I came from the Philippines, migrated here because I married someone from here, but I discovered that he loves 6 other different women on top of myself, or so I thought, and I divorced him. So now I am here working and living and still trying to adjust but I think I am doing quite well. So anyway, when my boyfriend and I arrived in Denver last weekend, some guy approached us, and the following conversation ensued: Guy: This may sound like a strange question, but do you folks have a rolling paper you can spare me? Me: Uhhh, not really. BF: No, sorry. Guy: It’s okay, all good. You folks have a nice day. (left) Me: (to the BF) I feel sorry for him. He must have needed one badly. If he’s not too picky, I could have given him mine (thinking of the Kleenex on my purse) BF: (shocked) I didn’t know that you’re using one. Me: Of course! I have been using it ever since, duh! BF: Well, make sure to leave it here. I am not letting you take it with us in my car. Me: But it is useful. I know you even have some of your own. BF: I do not! I haven’t even tried it. Me: Oh come on, it’s everywhere in your house. BF: What are you talking about? It’s illegal and I love my job. It may be legal here, but not back home. Me: (confused) Uhhh, we’re talking about rolling paper right? It’s toilet paper, right? BF: (almost choked laughing) And there you go, I got educated once again. And thanks to a stranger, I know better now than to mistake a rolling paper for a toilet paper.
