Been There "Than" That

That statement is quite trending in our country now. An actress turned politician who is now running for Senate posted that in Twitter. I am not sure if it is an official account or just a mock one. I do not have a Twitter account but I learned about it since some friends sent a screenshot thru Viber and Facebook Messenger. Why? About eight years ago, a girl - who is now the wife of ex sent me an e-mail. She was blabbering and then she said that exact statement. "Been there than that." Is it just me or is it really music to the ears? LOL

It means when someone suggests something to you as a solution, or whatever, you say "I've been there and done that already"

@AnneEJ or if someone is making excuses you can also say that he/she can't fool you for you have been there and done that.

Actually, the real phrase is "been there DONE that" but she got it all wrong in her tweet that is why it seemed meaningless.

That is right. It is trending here because she got it wrong. Which is why in the title I used "than"

I have never heard that expression, but often here, "Been there, done that" which means you have experienced the same thing before. Some people add another phrase "bought the T-shirt".

See what one wrong word can do? It totally made the expression alien. It should really be "been there DONE" that which is why in the title I used "than". It is trending because of that mistake

The correct exression is "been there, done that", which is why I used "than" to emphasize the mistske which made the expression trending.

technically it is wrong. There is a common phrase "been there done that", but I have never before heard the phrase you used before your post.

@nottoooldtowrite I would say "been there then that" would be grammatically correct but it is the difference between then and than.

Yes, the correct phrase is "been there done that" but they got it all wrong which is why I used quotes - "than" to emphasize the mistake. I did not think that I would encounter that mistake 8 years apart.

It's all harmless until someone decides to constantly use such phrases to generate distasteful humor. I've never heard of this particular trending phrase as well.

The phrase should have been "been there DONE that" and it is trending because she got it all wrong.
