Obesity-A new danger round the corner Obesity is on the verge of crippling the health system in every country by causing lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart disease, experts warn. The high rates of obesity will increase risk of associated diseases and shorten lives. Countries could lose a lot in terms of productivity and the health care systems may not withstand this burden. Another issue is childhood obesity. Incidence of overweight and obesity worldwide is getting out of control that the World Health Organization says it's nothing short of a global pandemic. There are at least 1 billion adults around the world who can be classified as overweight and 300 million of them are obese, says WHO said. This means there are now more overweight people in the world than people who are undernourished. This creeping pandemic of obesity is now engulfing the entire world. It's as big a threat as global warming and bird flu. Do you agree with this? Are governments doing enough? Please post your views.

According to news in the UK we seem to be following the USA and becoming a nation of FAT people. If you look around it doesn't seem that bad but it seems to depend on which city you're in. Another thing i've noticed in the UK and mostly with the asian population is that the generation from the 1960's are more obese than the latest generation coming through.

i definitely do agree to the report there, but i dont think the govt. can do much with this. The persons who are obese should definitely look on to this and try to work it out. Until he has the determination and courage to shed a few punds the govt. cant do anything. He must realise that this life is the costliest gift from God to mankind and we must take care about it.
