Ninja hen

We have a dozen chickens. They all hang out together during the day, but at night two of them go off and sleep in the barn while the other ten go to their coop. There have been a couple times in the past week or so, where I’ve gone out to shut in the ones in the coop, only to see that one is missing. One of my other evening chores is loading up outdoor woodstove. (It heats up water that goes through a heat exchanger and heats the house.) There is a clear line of sight between the stove and the coop, and I’ll give it occasional glances as I’m getting the fire going. But then I’ll go back and see that the missing hen has somehow snuck in without me seeing her. I don’t know what she’s doing that she doesn’t go in when the rest of them do, and I don’t know how she can sneak in so easily. Or maybe I don’t want to know.

It is her secret and she will never tell.

You don't think that perhaps she's gone in early ahead of the others?
