I am no authority, but I know that the many stretches associated with yoga poses are beneficial for the spine and all the muscles and connective tissue in out body. Certain stretches relieve a soreness in my hip, for instance, which comes on when I stand too long. Yoga just makes my body feel good and relaxes and quiets my mind as well.
