Just another school day

Tuesday dad called from his work, " You might wanna call the school and find out what's going on. Everybody's leaving to go pick their kids up. Apparently some kid running around there with a gun." No I wasnt buying the story about the gun. I had a feeling that was bs. I called the school anyway to get the real story. They told me that they were on lock down and had extra security due to a threat. That was all. Not long after I got off the phone with the school then my older teen calls trying to give me with the same story. "Mom. Come get us. There's some guy here with a gun." Me: " Ya know, that might actually be convincing if you werent using the same tone your grandpa always uses when he tells us to pull his finger." I did end up going there , but only to bring her an extra change of clothes. Its not that I dont care about my kids or their lives. I knew they weren't in any danger You know, the whole mothers intuition, gut feeling thing. And sure enough they gave the all clear and lock down was lifted only a few minutes after we left. This is not the first time this school has recieved threats of violence by the way. Usually its a set up by one or more kids trying to get out of school. These kids must be super bored.

It is very common nowadays that kids do anything just to get out of class. I am glad it was just a threat and nothing serious. If it was important - the school will call you.

@cupkitties And eventually whoever started all the commotion will be suspended easily. Then they will be the one missing out on all the fun school activities and regretting that "30 minutes" of lock down they had.

I love the part about pulling grandpa's finger! Kids will try anything to get out of school, won't they?
