Banished to the Sun Room

My view from banishment

My missus has decided today is too nice a day for me to stay inside, but due to all the work I did around the house and getting the new camper home yesterday, she knows I'm not is shape today to do much in the yard. Besides, she knows I want to do some writing today. Her compromise, I've been banished to the Sun Room. Our Sun Room is currently in a state of disarray. The furnishings consist of a card table and a pair of folding chairs. The room does have two residents, a giant chicken and a giant frog. These are actually covers for our vacuum and steam cleaner K found in a catalog of cute but essentially useless things. Fortunately, today is sunny and relatively warm here in eastern NC. With all the windows open and a light breeze blowing it is rather comfortable out here in the Sun Room. Unfortunately, I seemed to be enjoying myself so much writing out here that K decided to join me and take up half of my card table so she could do some work to prepare for month end at her job. Do you have a room in your house that sort of collects odds and ends but you keep telling yourself one of these days you'll get around to turning it into someplace useful?

Since we downsized a bit over a year ago, a lot of our rooms have that look. We are both a bit on the "messy side," both of us with our books and Anne with her sewing.

To me books make a room have a cozy feeling.

We have nowhere to put anything, our apartment is too small. But a lot of stuff manages to make it onto our dining room table anyway.

Nope, just the basement. Not in the living spaces. That would push me over the edge!

We don't have a basement. The water table here is so high that our basement would quickly become an under the house swimming pool.

@DWDavis We won't live w/o a basement - for many reasons, including the "T" word when the warnings comes.

@AbbyGreenhill I understand that. We had several T warnings on Wednesday and the only place in our house is to an interior closet. When the watch was set, I went in and took all the containers of dog and cat food out so we'd have room to stand.

Oh, doesn't every house have a couple of such areas, if not rooms? The sunroom, or conservatory, is kept clutter-free, so seldom do we see sunshine warm enough to enjoy any other way...

We can enjoy our Sun Room in the fall and spring, and some days in the winter. Summer it is usually much too hot during the day, so it becomes a Moon & Stars Room.

What was supposed to be our dining room was turned into a home office years ago and has collected its share of stuff. Most of it could probably be thrown out if we'd just take the time to go through it.

Most of our rooms were once like that! But I had a big declutter and it's all good now. I guess our office gets the most untidy and tends to be where we put 'stuff' until it finds a permanent home.

We've been trying to declutter little by little, but clutter seems to accumulate faster than we can get rid of it.

@DWDavis We seem to drown in paperwork sometimes. And I guess neither of us are particularly tidy.

It is not in the house but my workshop now for I have more stuff to organize. I like the scene outside the window. Weather is the same here mostly.

My husband's office has become our junk/music/laundry sorting room. Yes, there are all kinds of weird, useless things in there. LOL

Once in a while I'll find something interesting that I've forgotten I even had, but I never seem to find anything important.

Fortunately not! We have many unused and empty closets in our house and everything is in its proper place. Same in Florida. I hope to keep it that way.

Your sun room looks lovely. I would love that room. I want to organize our office. It became the staging area when we moved in here and has never been recovered!

It is a nice room but we need to replace the flooring and get some patio or rattan furniture for it.

@DWDavis yes it could be so nice to sit there and almost be in the trees.

Our kitchen and bedroom lofts are like that. No matter how much we clean it, it ends up being a place where we dump all nice but unwanted things.
