Ducks on the water .... more signs of spring.... photoslideshow....

In our small town we have a small river that runs into the sea, and it has been landscaped, they have put in various plants, trees and shrubs, and some wetland plants too, like reeds, and things.... I say things..., because I do not know the names of them.. This little wetlands area supports quite a bit of wild life... ducks, geese, birds and lots of insects... but towards the end of the year it was looking a bit overgrown and choked, and in need of some pruning... well while out walking the other week I noticed they had pruned it, and tidied it up... I thought they had been a bit severe... there were just woody stumps everywhere...., and was a bit concerned for the ducks, especially as they used the reeds and plants in the water to hide ect.... last year there were sssoooo many baby ducks ... it was lovely..., and I wondered how things would go this year... with their habitat... practically non existent...., But.... to my surprise...., when I went for a walk today, one of the duck pairs had had some chicks... and they were swimming quite happily on the water, and in and out of the small bits of plants growing again..
