Charlotte Observer reporter Joseph Person reported the news on Sunday the Carolina Panthers who are the defending National Football Conference Champions are interested in signing to a contract free agent defensive back Eric Waddle. Waddle became a free agent at the end of the 2015 football season when his contract with the San Diego Chargers expired. Waddle who was a second round draft choice of the San Diego Chargers in the 2007 National Football League Draft out of Utah has expressed his desire not to return to play football for the Chargers since they are not contenders to make a Super Bowl run in the near future. Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera and his defensive backs coach Steve Wilks have worked with Waddle when they were assistant coaches with the Chargers. The catch is that the Panthers are not going to pay Waddle a huge salary to join their team due to the salary cap but if Waddle wants to achieve his dream of playing for a Super Bowl contender the Panthers would one of the teams he should consider playing for when free agency begins this week.

Interesting test of a fairly young player's desire to be on a Super Bowl contender is greater than a bigger paycheck.

That is interesting to know that someone like Eric Waddle wants to play for a Super Bowl contender even if he to accept a pay cut.
