There are many people who find excuses for their addiction and try to justify their addiction by saying the are coping with loss, loneliness, separation, hard life, mental disease. Their excuses is lame because addiction is not a solution and it never solves any problem. Addiction actually is a problem. It will only worsen your condition.

Addiction is a mental condition. People prone to addiction could find themselves addicted to anything, for any reason.

There are certain types of personalities who are more prone to addiction and there are personalities who inspite of all these odds you mentioned will never resort to substance abuse or addiction of any form.

Excuses are examples of denials. And these people are denying their problem with what they are addicted to. To be able to change their ways they must at first recognized their problem and realize that it is not doing good on their life.

Nobody sets out to become addicted to anything it just happens. There are often reasons (not excuses) why people start doing/using a certain thing that becomes an addiction. To be honest, judging by this post, you know little or nothing about addiction.
