I have a lil brother whose breath is usually bad and faulty. He brushes his teeth 3-4 times a day. He is using listerine but no results. Due to his bad breath, his mood is off and has a low self-confidence. Do you guys have any home made remedies for it?

I think he should see a doctor who can take a look at his bile organ , i think . My husband had his endoscopy before and it was discovered that his bile is stuck up . And he was given medication and after about two months , his bad breath was gone .

@adelevans I love Sensodyne! I did not know that was good for bad breath also. It probably depends on the kind but I love using the daily protection and helps re-harden enamel since I grind my teeth.

He has consulted with a doctor, his stomach is fine. Dentist gave him sensodyne which is literally a chemical toothpaste.

Probably a bacteria thing of some sort. Which also could be the result of something else.

@adelevans That is kind of tricky, but do think you are on the right track. antibiotics also kills the good bacteria. Might want to try something like Tea tree oil. It seems to get along with the right things while killing the bad things. Could be to tell him to eat chocolate too because good bacteria is said to love that. Please look that one up though. Look both up.

Hi, @adelevans! I'm glad I see this post before I go to bed. it's 2:05 PM here in Manila. I work at night so I really need to sleep now. I'm glad I can help. Try oil pulling. It helps me and is always helping me. Coffee makes my breath smell bad but I can't live without coffee. I'm sure it's coffee because I tried replacing it with tea and juice and I got rid of the bad smell but I can't really live without coffee. I think it's the creamer that triggers the bad smell. You may research about oil pulling. There are so many posts about it in different websites but try here first. Oil pulling is indeed amazing. It also whitens my teeth. If I'm not soooo sleepy, I'll post more about it. I use virgin coconut oil and sometimes olive oil. Good luck!

Y ou're welcome, @adelevans! Why wait for me if you can get information here? One of the results is mine. I can no longer recall if I mentioned about bad breath.

@Inlemay Thanks. I didn't notice about the stomach. Hopefully, it won't affect stomach because they are all natural spices without side effects

I had it too once in my childhood. And it was related to throat but not teeth so just brushing really didn't help me. I think you should take your brother to the dentist 'cause I got relief after that. My dentist gave me one mouth freshener which gave me excellent results. I used only one bottle of it and never again and breathing problem gone.

My boyfriend doesn't have bad breath ~ but he finds that the mouthwash flavors that taste/feel better in your mouth are not as effective. He prefers original as possible that actually stings or tastes disgusting to effectively work. For example: Listerine ~ I like the Mint, but he will use the Original. Also does he floss often? Flossing helps get all the plaque, in between the teeth/gums where brushing won't reach. I also use a water pik machine too!

@adelevans I hope he will find a remedy that works for him! There are some on the Internet Maybe nature herbs he can chew on. For me I also scrape my tongue with a metal thing too! I use an electric brush to brush my teeth and I'd go over with a regular brush. I have a long oral care procedure.
Some 25 to 30 percent of the world’s population suffer with halitosis, or bad breath.

@infatuatedbby but in the mean time - I hope gum or popping a mint will give your brother confidence as a temporary solution until he finds the right remedy that will work for him!

He probably has a dental or medical problem and should see a doctor/dentist. There are diseases that cause bad breath. It sounds as if he is using good hygiene so he really needs to be checked out. This is not good for his self esteem either.

Probably he has a stomach problem. I know that, for my husband has bad breath too and we found out that he suffered some stomach problems. He is taking some medicines and now his bad breath is gone.
