In my discussion: My adventure in plastic surgery - part 7 my friend @TiarasOceanView said that what happened must've been the worse day of my life. I countered that I suspected that the day I totaled a car on the freeway was probably the worst day. She suggested I tell you about it. Honestly, there's not a lot to say. I was driving from Austin to San Marcos for my Thursday afternoon class when I hit a stopped car on the highway. In my defense, there were not flashers, there were not cones, nothing to tell me that the car was stopped until I was nearly on top of it. In fact, the police officer who came to the hospital agreed with that assessment and did not give me a ticket. I turned the car over, but because I was wearing my seat belt, I was basically uninjured. I might've cracked my head on the steering wheel, because I had an enormous bump on my forehead. Other than that, I had taken my left shoe off and had some cuts on my foot as well. I was taken to the ER in an ambulance. In fact, I had passed that very ambulance downtown on my way south. When the driver and the EMT were working on me, I said that I had seen them. The driver and I had locked eyes for a moment in traffic, and he remembered me too. The end result after skull x-rays was that my head was hard enough not to have cracked. My dad picked me up at the hospital and I went home. I actually made it on the news because one of the channels had been in San Marcos for a press conference and had stopped to catch footage of the wreck. Couple of side stories of this wreck in another post.
By this time it was the middle of August 1998. The day finally arrived to get the bandages off. Now, normally, I don't like to look at things like needles...

That is a miracle you were not killed my friend. Isnt that something that you also saw the ambulance going south before this happened! This is totally twilight zone sort of scenario.. And you made it..thank heavens for that. Thanks too for sharing this with us.

So sorry to hear about that accident. Seems a lot of people don't put up cones or anything when they are broke down therefore you can't know until you are upon them.
