In Observance of Lent

As a Catholic , I observe some Lenten practices . I had my forehead crossed with ash on Ash Wednesday . Because of that , I see to it that on Fridays , I don’t eat meat , but only fish and vegetable , as you can see in the picture when I had my early lunch at snack time . I feel happy practicing that , because it’s my way of sacrifice for the Lenten season , along with not eating on fastfood or restaurants. And on Holy Thursday , I shall attend the mass , with the re-enactment of the feet by Jesus to his disciples . May I please know what you practice also for your chosen religion ?

I am Catholic too, but I am no more obliged to observe the Lent, because I am over 60 now. Anyway, as I like fish, I will have salmon for dinner and I only had a little serving of pasta for lunch.

That's interesting....I never knew that there was an age exempt from Lenten practices. I'm so involved in reading posts and comments that my mother just called to see why I wasn't there to pick her up for Bible study LOL

I'm also a Catholic, in our house we practice not to eat meat every Friday after our forehead crossed with ash during Ash Wednesday until Black Saturday, this is only to show that we observed Lenten Season. We also hear mass during Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday and Ester Sunday and at the same time, we don't open our store during Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday.

Really you don't open your store for those 3 days . Here , some malls are open even on Good Friday . But the mall the company owns , will be closed too on Good Friday .

@SIMPLYD Yes, I did that before and until now and besides, that's a way of relaxation. It's not easy to own a store and manage it.

@SIMPLYD We abstain during Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, but the Fridays in between, we eat meat if that's all we have. Most of the time, we also eat fish because of my father.

I belong to a Christ centered and Bible centered religion so we only follow what is written in the Word of God, The Holy Bible. We do not do any sacrifice during the lent but we listen to sermons on the Seven Cries of Jesus on the cross and meditate on them.

Actually , we don't have to do them if we are not comfortable with it . What is important is our faith in God . That's a very nice way of observing the Holy week .

Okay, you will need to enlighten me. What is the re-enactment of the feet by Jesus to his disciples? Are you talking about the stations of the cross? Something I have heard about but know nothing about because I'm not Catholic.

It is that one in the bible wherein during the last supper , Jesus washed the feet of his disciples one by one . It was re-enacted by chosen lay ministers of the church during the Maundy Thursday mass .

hello my dear friend how are you? I missed you and the friends we have here. I am not able to go out of my place to do the "Vicita Iglesia" in Baguio because I am so busy with my work. My friends though thought we can visit the churches here on Holy Thursday or before that date, and we will not go out of town anymore.
