I was sitting here the other Day and it hit me how much everything has changed since I was a child and not just for the better As a Child we where able to play in Fields, Sands and playparks without the risk of being infected with anything without the risk of Dangers around like drug needles broken glass bottles and things like that We didn't have Computers, Game boys, Xbox and all those expensive things For Christmas we would get Toys or Boardgames or in my case some Books as I love reading.....we used to climb trees go swimming ride our bikes play on the Swings …..we would never be bored there was always something to do ….skipping, hula hoop, and a lot of fresh air We where able to eat fruit straight from the bushes and trees without worrying about chemicals,I used to get up at 4am with my Grandmother in the Strawberry Season and go Strawberry picking with her and I used to love it Yes there was dangers about but not as bad as there is now, it was carefree and a Childhood not dominated by TV Computers and Game Consoles It was what I call a beautiful Childhood

We had only a radio until I was about 6 years old when my parents bought a TV and there we watched programs like the Ed Sullivan show. We also used to sit and play monoply I mean the whole family while eating popcorn. Those were the days.

Even though there was a war on during my early years, I still remember a carefree childhood similar to what you are describing. Happy days. We had so much freedom and our mother didn't need to worry about where we were.

I do agree. Those times, crimes are not very much rampant. I do sometimes worry for my niece and nephews when they play outside. I make sure.they are with trusted kids and people.

I bet it was Gabs. I know England is so beautiful too to be outdoors in the fresh air. My childhood was much the same, no computers or the like, and freedom galore, rambling all the areas around our house then in those days. I treasure it. I really do. It was a good foundation for the things to come.

Children have everything in our days, but they miss what we had, clean air, free fields were to play and safety.

@gabs8513 I would love so much to have a time machine, I know I would go back to the fifties or sixties.

I had a childhood like that as well and it makes me really sad that kids these days can't or won't enjoy the same things we did.

A couple of days ago my grandson that has been staying with me was saying omg I am so bored.Mind you this child is 9 . I told him he needs to maybe go outside and play."well I don't have anyone to play with and there isn't anything here to do." I told him kid when I was your age I went out and found things to do.I didn't need someone else to play with . I wish kids could feel as free about playing and enjoying the life of a kid like we did when we were young..

My childhood is very memorable too despite the fact that my mom always make me stay in our house, do household chores and just read books afterwards. My mom make sure that I enjoy the company of my cousins who have same age as mine but most of the times I am in the house and play with my parents and sometimes with my brother and sister.I love those days where life is very simple. Books are enough to make me happy. I also love those cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid. It was full of good teachings unlike today in which most of the anime air in our country is all about violence.

It was, we could walk to a friend's house without the fear of being kidnapped, ride bikes to school without them being stolen and so on
