I need to start exercising regularly but there seems to be no motivation. Need a motivator. What exactly motivates one to exercise.

Hi, @mayka123! It depends on the person. What motivates me is my age. I'm not getting any younger. I'm already 43 and I fear a lot about my health. I have so many illnesses and I'm already tired of undergoing any lab tests. It's soooooo tiring. Though it's covered by health insurance, I can no longer bear going to the hospital every now and then to undergo such lab tests. It's so stressful. I do brisk walking every morning after work. It helps. I'm not discouraged to do it everyday though all my office mates are riding in vehicles and they see me walking. I think they find me weird but it's okay. This is my life not theirs.

I think what you did is right, don't think of others if they ride their own vehicle just leave them, it's there right and what your lookout now is your health not theirs, so continue to do brisk walking.

Hi @wittynet I too have started fearing for my health because of my age. Past 50s now. I work for eight hours and then have about three hours of to and fro travel which makes me tired. Dont get time for any more exercise after that. I do try to walk a bit when time permits.

Hello there Mayka123. Great question. MUSIC. It is a wonderful motivator and move maker. Music that makes you want to get up and dance is helpful. There is just something about a catchy beat and upbeat tunes that give one a reason and permission to get up and move his or her body. You can even try an exercise video, attend exercise group sessions if it helps.

Sometimes some catchy numbers do make our legs and body move to the music. Its been months since i started this discussion but have still not started exercising. And there are no exercise groups nearby for me to join.

@mayka123 You will definitely get some groove on if you consider some tunes from the late artists Prince and/or Michael Jackson. That is how I have been getting my groove on lately.

im never a fan of working out but now that i had to due to my leg injury, i set goals for my self within a week. so far im quiet happy with the results. you can try inviting your friends, maybe that will work. or make a bet against yourself..

Its been months now but I have still not started exercising. My work timings do not allow me to fix any timings for workouts.

Health concerns most probably. You'll definitely push yourself to exercise when it's already you're health which is at risk.

Oh I have still not been able to push myself to exercise. Work timings do not permit me to make time for anything else.

It motivates you when we see ourselves gaining weight.

I am gaining a lot of weight but that is not at all motivating me, The more weight I put on the more tired I get while exercising.

I hate working out, really hate it, it's boring. And yet whenever i look at my belly i think i have to work out. I'm kinda shy so i dont like running on the street and i hate the idea of going to the gym, so what i usually do is, i set my laptop with some music i like or some tv show running and i work out for a bit. I like to change exercises a lot so it doesn't get too boring, jump the rope is great exercise and you can jump kinda to the sound of music. Actually dancing also a great exercise, if someone's there i don't do it, but if i'm alone i dance like i'm crazy and it's a lot of fun and you can work mostly every part of your body.

I may have danced if I was alone. But my kids are always around and I am not comfortable dancing with them around. It would have been fun if I had some time for my self to do as I liked and dance like I was crazy.

The motivation can be as simple as wanting to feel BETTER. There is no magic solution here, it is all up to you.

Yes I agree it is upto me. I do want to feel better. But I spend so many hours at work and then the travel time spent everyday to work and back does not leave me any time for myself to do anything. And I guess the motivation is not there.

It's you, your health that is your motivation. Don't think other things that motivates you because we're not getting any younger and you need to be healthy, so exercise.

I agree we are not getting any younger. Need to start soon as age is catching up. But somehow find too many excuses not to start. Need to think of health first.
