Whatever happened to Newsgroups?

If I am not mistaken the reason given for removing Newsgroups from some browsers that had e-mail and newsgroups together was due to child pornography. If that is the reason I can certainly agree that would be a good reason to restrict access to newsgroups. Back in the year 1995, newsgroups were introduced to the Netscape browser suite. America Online also had this feature. Now I suspect strongly that newsgroups are part of the new dark web. Take my advice and don't go there. Nothing good will come of it. I use Norton Safe Search or Google with Norton tags that let me surf safely without worry about coming across the kinds of things the dark web has tried to cultivate, a side of the world wide web that is both damning and destructive and leads to the demise of many curiosity seekers unaware of the true hidden dangers that lie in the deep web.
