Vertigo Struck Me , When I Least Expect It

I had episodes of vertigo about 3 years ago . Doctor found nothing wrong with me . She presumed I just had too much cleaning of my ear that affected my balance . Last Saturday , while I was at our officemate’s house since it was fiesta , I suddenly have a feeling of it coming . Good thing, I have already finished eating and was just chatting with my officemate and his wife . Thus , I sit upright , get my White Flower from my bag and took hold of the monoblock chair’s armrests . And when it came , I felt I was swirling , but just gripped the armrest well while my other hand held the open White flower to my nose . In a little while it subsided . My officemate and his wife didn’t notice it . I know , it could be caused by my not getting enough sleep or it could be I have been cleaning my ears so much again or it could be the so much heat . Did you ever experience vertigo ?

It is a horrible feeling. Perhaps you should not be cleaning your ears too much. Our ENT surgeons will tell you that you should not stick anything smaller than an elbow in your ear you could damage your ear drum!

Yes, that's what the surgeon told me too. So, i lessened that but then sometimes , i can't help it though . Though i think it has something to do with my lack of sleep the past week . Can't sleep early in the evening though , because my eyes is accustomed to sleeping at 11:00 to past midnight .

good thing your vertigo attacked is just for a while when it did struck you. My sister in law had it also. But just this January, I had to bring her to the E.R. because of the vertigo attack. She had that for three (3) days and cannot drive. She has been given two medicines and had a check up on an ENT doctor after

@SIMPLYD the three little bones in her ears are misplaced. She was given exercises to promote balance in her ears. of course, there is the medicine for maintenance and another one if she thinks an attack will strike her

take good care of yourself, my lady. Sometimes vertigo can be due to an ear infection or the Meniere's syndrome. But I supposed you have no ear problem. Your BP is also fine, right?

Yes, that's what the doctor told me . I stopped cleaning my ears even when it's clean with that very small spoon like thing , My BPI is fine , but i lack sleep for the past weeks and recently . I suppose that's what caused it .

@ridingbet I also do after taking a bath , to clean the outer part . But to get inside my ear it's that spoonlike aluminum thing . So now , i seldom. use it anymore .

@SIMPLYD ou don't use cotton buds? Is that spoon-like thing metal or plastic? It might hurt your ear if you insert it farther.

No I have no Vertigo but my former Boss has and she would be absent for days because of this. The mother of my churchmate also has vertigo but according to him, inhaling the steam of vicks vaporub cured her mother. Why not try this my friend? Fill a bowl with steaming water (not boiling!) and add 2 teaspoonfuls of VapoRub. Gently inhale the steaming vapours with a towel over your head, You may repeat this up to four times a day or as necessary but discard bowl contents every time.

Actually , it's been years since i last had this . Besides , it doesn't happen often . In fact , it happened again after some months . And this time after about 3 years . I really think it's lack of sleep because i only get to sleep about 5 hours a day . The past week i would sleep past 12 then wake up at 5:00 . Then , that happened . But you know , while i was having it , i sniffed my white flower which i readied when i noticed that it is coming . Thus , it was for a short time unlike before .

I have that ongoing problem too. I had thorough examinations done and I was told that too much salt in my diet is causing this problem . It prevents the fluid in my inner ear to drain properly therefore it affects my balance .. I was told not to use salt in my cooking .. no salt at all.. but how can anyone enjoy eating tasteless food? ..

Oh my! I think thatis what is causing my vertigo too - salty foods . i would always dip my boiled meats or fish in fish sauce with chopped Thai chili and lemon drops or soy sauce too.

You're gonna loose your ear drum if you keep at it. I could barely hear on one ear already and my mom is almost deaf because of her overuse of cotton buds. get some sleep please, work is nothing if your not healthy.

@SIMPLYD one thing i removed a huge ear wax on my other ear and it started hurting seriously. couple of days later i wasn't hearing much, a little. the doc tells me it must be on the nerves but that was while back.

No , i don't have that . I am suspecting for the latest attack as caused by my lack if sleep for the past week . But it's manageable and happened only after 3 years actually . So, i am now trying hard to sleep early .

I've had it and it's awful. My doctors don't know what causes it. Sometimes, if I tilt my head in a certain way I feel it coming on, so stop immediately. Once, I had it all summer and couldn't drive.

The way i see it for you , it's a problem of balance in the ears since you would feel it coming when you tilt your head. Take care too . And it's a good thing it doesn't strike you when you are driving . How often does it strike you ? Mine happened after some years .

@SIMPLYD After my first attack, I got them off and on for about 3 years. I haven't had any for 10 years, but am careful. I get out of bed slowly, and if I feel something odd when I turn my head, I stop immediately. Awful feeling!

I do feel dizzy sometimes when I am not feeling well, but I guess not as bad as vertigo yet. Usually how long will you feel better after experienced that spinning or swirling? I think it can be quite dangerous if you are driving or walking on the street. Take care!
