More Yard Work

My husband and I are going to try to get a bit the next couple of days, and get some more yard work done. I am not sure if we can or not, with all the pine pollen in the area. Both my husband and I are allergic to it. We have more Pampas grass to cut, and also need to put both fertilizer and mole bait out. I want to get my vegetable garden cleared of weeds as well, so I can plant soon. It will not be long until Good Friday, and from that point on we are supposed to be able to plant. We have to put the mole bait down because we have an excessive amount of moles. Moles tend to eat on plant roots, and our plants cannot survive without any roots. We have lost many flowers due to them pesky moles eating the roots off. Picture By: Pixabay

How are moles prevented/killed? I hope to see your vegs garden someday. I am a garden volunteer every time I visit Auckland. I received certificates of appreciation from the Disability Garden Volunteer.

Congratulations on your garden volunteering. It is nice that you receive certificate for it. I do not know how to kill moles. We put this stuff down, that runs them out our yard, but doesn't kill them.

I have had problems with moles in the past and they do destroy everything in site. They also leave holes that can be dangerous if stepped in.

@simone10 I am glad you did not twist your ankle. I have done that several times (not in a mole hole), and it hurts terrible.

@slund2041 I have before and fortunately it wasn't very deep or I could have twisted my ankle.

It must be a bit difficult if you are both allergic to pine pollen. We don't have moles here thank goodness. I have read that they are a real nuisance.

Yes, moles are a pain, because they feast on roots of plants. The stuff we are putting down for them does not kill then, it only runs them out of our yard.

i am not sure what all i am planting for sure. I am going to the nursery after Easter and see what I come home with. I know for sure I will plant tomatoes and pepper. I am going to plant whatever catches my interest when I walk through the nursery. I have not had a chance to get my vegetable area ready to plant. I will have to get back on it after Easter.

@rina110383 Yes, you can save a lot of money. You should try vegetables. I have not had a lot of luck in previous years, but I still want to try it.

@slund2041 I never tried veggie planting but I like looking at photos of veggie gardens. If you could plant those veggies, you could save a lot. Such a smart girl!

I can't imagine what work we'll have to do once we get home! Good luck. That sounds like lard labor to me, but I'm sure it will look beautiful once it's done.

@cyberrat Oh that sounds like fun. We are having seventy-eighty degree weather here. It does still drop down low at night the past couple of nights. Tuesday we had frost, but it quickly warms up during the day.
