From the iPod #26 - "First and Last and Always"

A brother-like friend and I discuss a hell of a lot of music when we talk, and our subjects a couple nights ago were prog-rock and goth. Particularly, the Sisters of Mercy, one of goth's most influential bands. We agreed that the Sisters' second album, Floodland, is not only one of the greatest goth record's ever recorded, but a fantastic concept album as well. On the other hand, First and Last and Always, the band's 1985 debut, was merely a collection of songs. They were great songs, however, the title track in particular. There was no chart performance for either album or song, yet it remains a popular Sisters tune all these decades later, enough so that it was still on the set list when I saw them back in the late 1990's. (However, when they do play live these days, I'm told their set consists of songs from an album that might never see the light of day, so I'm unsure whether or not still makes the list.) It is, as far as I'm concerned, the album's best track, and I've linked it below. Enjoy!
