Time for Trivial Pursuits Kite Flying

Kite

I don't know what gives me greater pleasure than doing little things. Other than doing chores around the house, I see great in trivial pursuits. One of them is kite flying. I go on to the terrace and let my kite soar away over the rooftops. Do you think that I am wasting my time? Have you any such trivial pursuits that let your mind unravel?

It is the children who teach us. I learn lots of things from them. You are lucky. Erly.

That is so interesting. Let me see, like making dishes for them. Or teaching them rhymes. Great! What rhymes will interest them? Or dishes?

@vandana7 That is so fascinating. Dancing is an art and I like the way children try out complicated moves. I mean they are learning to walk straight now.The girl seems to be very energetic and enthusiastic. You must be having a great time with them.

I cannot pin point at any one little thing that I indulge in. It could be the joy I get when I see a new bud, on a plant that I would have planted, the card games I play online and the joy I get when I have defeated the computer..................... Flying kites is quite a sport.

Yes, 'times there a-changing' and I too like a good game against the computer or online against some friend from Russia or Australia. Indeed, the modern man needs very little beyond a computer and an internet connection. Enjoy! Modern man! Have a nice time!

That is certainly news to me. I know my sister would stand beside me when I was flying my kite. But her friends and she would not try to fly it. Ha ha you certainly are something more than the normal handful if I may say so.

So, what is stopping you? When you turn that corner and make the decision to be a child once more, you discover happiness. But do not be careless!

That is the bottom line always ha ha. . You can join with people who are playing and have fun. You don't have to be playing yourself.

@gofsey Enough people seem to want my bank account number. I never give it out of course even if they are going to deposit 150,000 pounds in my bank for me.

Yes, talking is the best thing you can do. Unless someone is asking for your bank account number.

Of course you aren't wasting your time. Things you do for yourself to make you happy is never a waste of time. Sulking and complaining is a complete waste of time. Well, I decorate notebooks with my stickers!

I tried my hand at origami but that is too much trouble. I never got past planes and boats.

The kite keeps soaring with every gust of wind. It seems to be borne upward by the thoughts and desires. It keeps tugging at my hand as like a little child that wants to cut loose and run away. I like the feeling.

Try making paper objects -- origami. I know it will be a waste of time considering your busy schedule. But just fold a piece of paper and leave it there until you pass that way again. Make a boat, airplane, butterfly or flower. One friend of mine makes packets and sells them in medical supply stores (pharmaceuticals). They use it for packing medicines.
