Putting myLot into perspective

United States

When I first joined myLot I had no clue what is was like or if I would stick around. That was in mid-August of 2015 and I'm still here. I didn't spend much time here until October, which coincides with when we closed our pool for winter. All the years of writing online at Associated Content/Yahoo and other sites taught me a lesson it took too long to learn. I gave up way too much of my fun time, the time I enjoy the most - summer. Sure I was still active on those sites in summer because I was committed to them. We also made 'real' money back then. But the times they have changed.... I promised myself, my husband and Ruby, that starting this summer I would not be tied to the computer as in the past. I live for summer and gave them away and now they are lost forever in cyberspace....no more will I let that happen. I am putting myLot into perspective. Once warm weather is truly here to stay I will be outside enjoying it. I will be in here off and on posting and commenting, but it won't be like it has been. I will probably be getting more of those 10 cent days like I had recently and that will be OK. Do you plan on changing your 'myLotting' habits when the weather turns nice? Photo is mine

My myLotting habits have already changed with my daughter & family moving in. My time is now limited on the computer but I'm not complaining as I'm enjoying the activity. I can see why you would want to be outside and enjoy that beautiful pool when the weather gets warm. If I had a pool like that I'd be shrived like a prune and never want to get out.

There are days I was shriveled like a dozen prunes but it doesn't take long for that to happen! The good thing about this pool is we have shad we can get into really easily when the sun gets too much.

@Ruby3881 We usually go in three times a day - we do have to get out to cook/eat!

@AbbyGreenhill Yes,I have decided to getting a new house built at the place where our old house exists. The old house is not spacious enough for a family of as many as seven members. The house will be ready by the end of this year,I hope.

This time of year is when our weather is the nicest. In a couple of months it will get too hot to spend much time outside as I don't have a pool and live too far from the ocean to go every day. Then again, I'll be working hard on getting my next book ready for publication during the summer so maybe it's a good thing it gets so hot out, Keeps me in and working.

I am planning the same. I want to live outside during summer, enjoy my garden and have a healthy life. I will not stop writing, but I will not spend many hours at my computer.

@Drosophila Some days I wonder if it really helps but mostly people just want to know that somebody - even somebody who knows zilch about their particular situation - has noticed what they wrote and acknoledged it.

Love the photo. Love the dog too...I can't spend all day on the computer, I would go crazy if I did. That's why I only post one discussion a day and miss the odd day because I can't catch up. I know the importance of returning comments and helping out our friends instead of having it be "all about me". I will not be here as much in summer as I am in the nasty winter... While camping there is no WiFi, and when too busy with my painting there is no WiFi. I think real life is much more important than the internet. Enjoy your Summer, I plan too.

@PainsOnSlate I absolutely agree about real life being more important, but from the way I live my life people might think otherwise. I'm trying to do something about that though. Unfortunately where I live, winter is just around the corner that that won't help me to drag myself away from the computer as much as I should.

Good morning. No I think I will either be here or on my other writing sites. The reason being is because I am not a fan of summer. Here, where I reside, the summers can be very humid and uncomfortable because of the high humidity. Since I do not swim or hike or bike or garden, I stay indoors with air conditioning. So you just might see me mostly responding to discussions and occasionally starting my own. I cannot wait for next winter and now it is almost 8 to 9 months away. Oh well, such is life.

Time and chance dictate my mylotting time. Some days I can just sit and read, others I'm out and active in other ways. I don't conform to Mylot, it waits for me.

Oh yes I have traveling plans. We always like to try a new lake every summer. Not sure where yet but going we are. I would like to take at least 2 camping fishing trips a month while it's warm. So I won't be here as much either.

I haven't been here long enough to really have a set habit for my participation here. But I do think that this time around with my sites in general, I'm going to aim for spending more time with my family. The earnings aren't nearly as big as they were in the old AC days, so it's not really productive to enslave ourselves to our computers.

@AbbyGreenhill It still feels like summer here and looking at the weather forecast it seems like we've quite a lot of hot weather in front of us. It's lulling me into a false sense of security because I really need to start making preparations for protecting my bonsai trees when the cold weather arrives.

Oh the weather never stops me from venturing out into the real world rather than mylotting. I love that beautiful leap from your dog into the pool - brings back a memory of my own Lab doing the same. Get outside as soon as its warm and take long walks, sip coffee for hours, and visit friends

@AbbyGreenhill Most of the places I depend on earning from I do from my phone, usually on the go. This is one I would rather be on my computer but I do need to invest more time if I want to improve my earnings here.
