Maddy the Drama Queen

I keep telling her not to take the internet so personally. I don't think she gets it though. Sometimes it is hard not to take things personally, but I find usually taking a step back and having a breather helps. What about you?

Yes, I can get like Maddy sometimes too and take things a bit too personally. :-)

I can too. Usually a walk outside helps me get my head back to a place with better priorities. :)

I have a pretty thick skin on or offline. I come from the era of sticks and stones can break my bones but names can never hurt me. The internet is far easier to move away from than people who are physically in my presence.

Haha! That is true. I like that image - I imagine the internet probably has pretty bad aim too! :) Thanks for making me smile.

I think sometimes we all do that and just need to step back and have another look at it all and see it from a different angle.

I'm sure you are right. Getting out for a walk in nature and away from the computer usually helps me.

When I first joined here I could not talk about things because everything people responded with upset me. It was bad. Matter of fact back then I quit being on MyLot for a little bit because I couldn't handle what others said to me. Now, I have grown a LOT since then and I don't take things as personally anymore like I used to.

@madcrochetlab Yes it is thank you. I have realized that not everyone's opinion should matter. I am here to please one and that is God, that's it. And I know what He thinks of me. =)

Yeah, I can understand that. Since it is a discussion-centered type of site, people may just join in discussions to say any thing to add to their banks and not realize or care. You just never know. But there is nothing wrong with sticking up for yourself either. I'm glad your experience is better now. :)

In some ways, I still get affected but not so much.

@cherriefic As I type this, I realize my skin is not thick enough for this platform as I've just witnessed a fellow new user's discussion get deleted in which an admin was tagged to clarify an issue since according to the TOS, no rules were broken but the discussion was removed rather than responded to. So maybe I am a drama queen but may not be here long after all. It's too bad. I liked the people I was meeting and the interactions. :(

I think some days we have thicker skins than other days too, don't you think? Probably depends on the type of mood we were already in or something. :) But I'm glad it doesn't affect you so much as before.

depends what she is taking personally - if it is someone deliberately cyberbullying her she might need support

That's a good point, Arthur! I will definitely do my best to protect her from cyber-bullies. (Although sometimes I think she is better able to defend herself without my help! LOL)
