More Flammin' Roadworks

High St dig

Considering I don't drive, I am not at all sure I have such a bee in my bonnet when it comes to road works. Still, it keeps me amused. This one is a bit of a corker, right in the High St, causing traffic to back up in either direction. With four bus routes being affected, not to mention all the other traffic, I was really glad I was only walking to the shops.

Could be worse, I guess. It was the gas company, so best to let them get on with it

I hate this time of the year, every road seems to have road workers on it. Horrible.

Usually, our worst time is summer. The roadwork is the worst cause everyone is moody, cars overheat. We see that alot.

@WendySpickerman That's true, now you mention it, any kind of heat and the roads become bad for your health

Turns out it was the gas pipeline people, so I think it is best to let them get on with it!

I enjoying walking or even biking on my outings but sometimes the roadwork makes even that impossible and unsafe.

It's the safety thing I worry about on the bike, lots of car folks are determined to get past no matter that the lights have just changed

@Ronrybs Here many don't even care about the walk light, they think if their light is green and the walk light is on they have the right and that's not the case. I've had people even go around me walking across the street.

We've had road works at the entrance to our small town for a month or two now. They seem to be getting near the end of it at last.

@Ronrybs That's very true. The have built up the road a great deal on one side and are now putting in a new bridge. Luckily they were able to remove all the barriers over Easter or it would have been a nightmare.

@JudyEv Yes, most of the time at holidays they reduce the works as much as they can

Sometimes they seem to make slow progress, but it can hard to tell if you don't know what they are trying to do

For some reason, here in Colorado, they seem to wait until tourist season to start tearing stuff up.

I take it that is the height of summer, sounds like the worst time in more ways than one!

Road work is always a pain even though I'm a walker I still find it annoying. Especially when I live in a place where no one knows how to drive, when they see anything orange and white on the road people know how to drive even less.

You can't quite make it out, but in the middle of the works is a pedestrian crossing, making getting to the other side all the more fun! Some drivers just concentrate on the colour of the light, never mind anyone else

What a nightmare sometimes I wish I had learned to drive. Then other times I am glad I did not.

Manchester seems to be one big roadworks lately and in some areas even pedestrians get diverted

Yes, there seems to be areas where they are forever digging up, filling in and then digging up again

It's a pain in the neck when the work is being done, but lovely after it is.

it's not so bad when they are actually doing some work, but half the time there's no-one there.

I guess we should be glad roadwork is being done but it is a pain. Especially when it is done near where one lives.

Yes, drivers complain about potholes in the road, so you have to put up with roadworks, if you want them sorted
