The Gochi is a small strip of cotton cloth which is tied up around sexual organ in India. In India, the people are being exploited to the maximum from all sides and is forced to wear a 'GOCHI' which the other countries are wearing as a fashion. Thus, it is a symbol of exploitation in India and happens to be a symbol of fashion in foreign countries. The Common people unable to bear the tax burden are preferring to wear 'Gochis' (Koup ee Na in Sanskrit)(A small long strip of cloth which covers their sexual organ) and the rich are very conveniently and liberally being offered loans on liberal conditions only to leave the country for enjoying at various places of tourism. While the Gochi reflects the financial and poor status of a common man it surprisingly reflects the economic and financial stability of persons who irrespective of their gender wear it on the beaches with bodies full of cholesterol. In India while it is a symbol of poverty it is a symbol of fashion on the beaches of foreign countries. while in India the Gochi represent the systematic exploitation of a common man it represents the systematic growth and development in the foreign countries.

I am confused ... are the untouchables the only caste in India forced to wear a Gochi? Is this still in practice up to these days?

This is not for untouchables. Most of the people wear it. They wear it especially while taking their bath. After taking their bath they expose it to the open air and it dries up very quickly. Even Sadhus (Saints) wear them. Nowadays people are wearing it in different forms. Some people wear it above knees and some above the thighs. But, in most of the cases, the term applies to a long strip of cotton cloth.

This is not even half a meter cloth that is worn around your waist.for taking bath. One can use it comfortably as Bikini. But, in India, it is the final resort of a poor man after being robbed of his everything by money lenders, property dealers, and politicians. They rob the people of their everything and finally, they are forced to wear it just to cover their body.
