Lazy Sunday, a good book, NCAA game and no politics

I did something yesterday that I haven't done in a very long time, unless I was sick. I spent almost the entire Sunday in bed, not napping but mostly reading and watching a teeny bit of cable news. It was snowy, gloomy and cold outside and the perfect day for doing such a self-indulgent thing. Mildred my cat joined me, which made it extra nice. Actually, I needed a break from all the political crappola I’ve been watching for months now. I needed a break from yelling at my TV, talking back to all the nasty commentators and pundits, spiking up my blood pressure and making me more and more depressed. I finished a book I’ve been reading. It was about 900 pages long and a really good book, perfect leisure/escape reading. I always suffer a sense of loss when I read the last page of a good book, anxious to start another one to fill the gap, the one waiting on the table next to my bed. Anyway, other than feeding Mildred and eating a whole spinach garlic pizza by myself, I did nothing but read, catch a little TV and enjoy the UCONN Huskies women’s basketball game. They won the Final Four and now move on to the Final Two. Hopefully, they will win that game and their fourth NCAA championship in a row. Go Huskies!

If you don't like what's on tv - why turn it on - or change the channel? I can very easily avoid all the political BS by watching other channels. I've never spent the day in bed, the bedroom is for sleeping only and I sure wish I could do more of that at night

I somehow got caught up in all the political goings on this year and find it very interesting although also very disturbing at times.

I have a tendency to watch or read something connected with it then can write something or walk away with my hands in the air muttering something like ahhh-whatever on any given day.

I've always loved to read but I can't tell you when the last time I read a book was. I'll have to find one and read it. I know what you mean about needing a break from politics. I'm a total political junkie but this year I've found myself getting so stressed out I need to change the channel now and then. This campaign, notably the GOP debates and campaigns, are so humiliating for all Americans. I'd never have believed we'd be hearing some of the things we've heard at this year's Presidential debates!

I've become a political junkie also. Prior to this year, I never cared that much. But I do have to take a break every now and then to keep my sanity!

Sounds like a nice Sunday to me. That was my Saturday where I spent in bed watching movies and reading my book. I try to read a few chapters a night as I have a goal to read so many books a month and so far I haven't accomplished it. I'm hoping to read 3 books this month but doubt that will happen. Hope you have a good week

The political ruckus is scarey isn't it? My husband tells me things I am not interested in hearing like he thinks I should be. I really need to get to my filing and am taking a break starting now. I have just under five hours to accomplish something more than wriitng, reading and playing my game on my tablet. At least supper is in the crockpot and the dishwasher is awaiting silverware and then that's a go too. At least Mildred is the only one that could get mad at you for hanging out in bed, and she didn't seem to mind it sounds like.

Mildred is fine with me spending a day in bed. It's also one of her favorite activities! As long as she gets fed properly and has her treats, she really doesn't care what I do!!
