Flood due to rain

In some parts of West Java, Indonesia, where I live, heavy rain has been falling causing some ricefields to be submerged with water and mud, especially near a toll road construction, which is still at the stage of carrying out earthwork. The levee that was built collapsed due to the overflow of rain water. The people living nearby were affected badly. Some lost their own properties, a few villagers were slightly injured.

Flood wouldn't have happened if the people treated the nature well. Some causes of flood are inter alia clogged water channels. Water can't flow freely, thus causing the overflow. When it rains lots of rain water submerges the road because the ditch does not function (clogged).

@yanzalong You are right.I have seen people block the channels made for smooth flowing of rainwater by dumping waste in them.

I wonder what is happening in this world but I guess rains are affecting many people than before. In my country, people living on the shores of big lakes and oceans have been forced to evacuate the area due to rising of water. Others who live in flood ridden areas have been warned to relocate due to an anticipated flooding season. I'm really sorry for those people who have been got by flooding waters... hopefully, help will come for them to avoid lose of lives and properties.

You are right. Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, is affected by flood regularly. That's terrible, isn't it? The residents of Jakarta know that their houses are often flooded when the rain falls but they don't want to move or find another location. They say they like living there. Most of the losses are property -- damage, swept away.

Your weather there now is a complete opposite to our weather here. We are now at the height of our summer season and we are suffering from too much heat. I hope you and your family or your properties are not affected with the flooding.

Hi, there! It's been a long time. I'm glad to see your post here. I'm sorry to hear such sad news happening in your country. I think there was some landslide that happened. In our country, we hardly have rain at all and we are suffering from drought.
