Excellent Cover Song #8- "Whiskey In The Jar" by Metallica

Sorry I've been away for a while, but I'm back and on this list, there are two Metallica songs. This song was originally an Irish folk song but was first released by The Dubliners in the 60's. Thin Lizzy released the song in 1972 and Metallica released it in 1999.
Out of the three versions, I prefer the Metallica version because the song is faster and heavier than the previous versions. This is one case where the cover is definitely better than the original in my eyes (A rarity).
Additionally, the official music video of the Metallica version is fun.

I'm fond of Thin Lizzy's version. I think they never got the attention they deserved in the US. (They were part of my second-ever rock concert, and they were far and away the best band there that day!)

Any mention of Metallica gets a thumbs up! I never was never a fan of Thin Lizzy so prefer Metallica version.

The Colorado Avalanche used to play this version while the teams were warming up. Nothing like grooving to this while watching the Av's and the Red Wings skate during the playoffs.

I just love this song! I mean, the music video no so much, I believe it would've been way better if the video was actually based on the song lyrics.
