I have a sick grin across my lips as I type this. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when one hears 'heavy metal' is the form of rock music from the late 1960s up to the early 1970s from the United Kingdom and the United States. One can associate distorted guitar sounds and riffs, pulsating bass lines, and heart-pounding drums to songs that are of the heavy metal variety. Add that to the the flair and the antics of the heavy metal bands and we have something that parents abhorred and that kids loved to embraced! Anyway, another thing that came to mind is the adult oriented illustrated magazine 'Heavy Metal'. If you don't know about it, look it up. It will be worth your time. I was never really into reading 'Heavy Metal' but I did like some of the drawings. LOL! Now, showing some of my nerdy side, here's another thing that I remembered when I think of 'heavy metal'... chemistry class 101. There is such a thing as heavy metals, elements that exhibit metallic properties. I'm talking about iron, copper, zinc, among others. Not familiar with these... time to pull out your periodic table of elements. What images come to your mind when you hear and see the word 'heavy metal'? To certain words conjure up images in your mind? What words are those and what do you think of?
