Only Child Day

April 10 was "Sibling Day" on Facebook. I have seen that one before. However, this year is the first year I saw April 12 being called "Only Child Day". I'm glad the people without siblings get acknowledged too. Especially because I am one of those people. I always wanted a sibling, but never got one. I also know that some of my friends wished they didn't have siblings! But now that they are adults, most of them are happy to have siblings. What do you think of celebrating these two days on Facebook?

Every day they have something to celebrate but it leaves some out. It's known that Facebook can make others feel isolated and not important. I see all those "happy sibling day" posts and it saddened me because I don't have a relationship with mine.

@petatonicsca We should celebrate others daily whether its in thought, a gift, a warm "thinking of you" card or however.

I know, there are a lot of those celebration things that bother me too.

Got 12. And having that much is chaotically fun. Isn't nice? That a day is meant for solo.kid ;)

I'm happy to have siblings because they got kids and makes me realize how important it is NOT to be alone. these days, you never know when you need your family in times of need.

I am not a big "celebrating" person for things like that.

I'm glad there's a day for the "Only Child" I am an only child too, like you I wanted to have siblings but due to old age of my parents I'm the only one they had, and I feel so blessed.

I think it is great they celebrate both. I have a good friend who is an only child and sometimes I see it in her eyes when I talk about growing up with my siblings. Guess we all form our own "families" so we all have brothers and sisters.

Yes. Before I found out there was and Only Child day I was very tempted to post a picture of myself and say "This is my sibling."
