Visiting a Local Dairy Farm

United States
April 17, 2016 9:58am CST
What a beautiful day it is.... The sun is shining, it's going to be nice and warm so this makes it very enticing to spend the day outside. My daughter and son in law went to a local dairy farm yesterday and they had such a good time they are trying to talk me into going back with them today. Although I can't do much walking I am curious to see what they sell and maybe I can get some milk, eggs and cheese. I'd definitely be curious to see the difference in taste compared to what I usually buy in the grocery store. Happy Sunday everyone!

We don't have these around us anymore. All of the dairy lands of the past are now homes. So sad. I loved having a bit of country around.

I'm surrounded by cornfields and farms. We've had some farms sold and developed into housing but it's still quite countrified here

@Marilynda1225 How nice. And you are able still to shop and find services without driving a great distance? That's a wonderful balance.

You would be surprised at the difference in taste from the grocery store and what you buy from a local dairy farm you wouldn't want to go back to the grocery store. The weather here today is nice also.

@Marilynda1225 I always find buying there is so much fresher and better tasting that you will enjoy the experience.

I'm sure that anything I buy wouldn't even begin to compare to what we get in the grocery store. Since it isn't far away it's probably worth checking out and buying locally & fresh

They had a wonderful time roaming around the dairy farm and she wants to go back today to see what they sell in their little store and figured I'd be interested.

Hope you enjoyed the dairy farm. I enjoy buying organic dairy at ours. They even sell the freshest ice cream I've ever had.

Ask them for "chocolate cheese". You know the cheese they make from the cow that gives chocolate milk? lol Get them all rolling.

My sister visited a friend in college on the dairy farm she grew up on. Her family drank milk straight from the cow to the table. I wonder what that tastes like and if it's dangerous.

I get eggs at the local dairy farm sometimes and their not bad. I love visiting those places in the summer. The weather here is very nice as well and I'm loving it.

There's a big difference in the taste of milk. It's fresh and hasn't been pasteurized yet. Delicious!

I do hope you go! I'd love to visit a dairy farm. We have quite a few of them here in Rhode Island, too, and I've been to a couple but nothing recently. I should see if any of my ride programs go to any of the farms. I really wouldn't mind going alone if I had to. I know how to have fun even by myself! :)

Happy Sunday to you as well! It would be fun to go to just take a walk around, and who knows what they will have for sale there, whatever they have I'm sure that it will be fresh.

There is a very large dairy farm that produces cheese about 1/2 hour from us. I don't eat cheese but my husband loves it so we went and he got two different kinds - they make about 30...he wasn't very impressed. It was expensive but not much different/better than what you can buy at the store. Did you buy anything?

I have never visited any diary farms before. I bet they have lots of different cheeses to choose from.
