Playing in the rain

When I was a kid, I really wanted to play in the rain like many other kids but my mom wouldn't let me do it. My mom was very angry if I wanted to go out in the rain. She would say, "Don't do that. You'll get ill!." As a kid, I never answered her back. I would always try to be obedient. When it rained, I just stood by the glass window watching the kids playing. Now I understand why my mother wanted me to stay inside. And things she prevented me from doing prove to be things, which were not worth doing at all. What was your childhood like? Were your mom always strict?

My Mom was strict but not with playing in the rain. Of course, not unless there was a typhoon or something, I think it was typical for Asian kids to go outside when it rained and play! I don't know whether I'd do the same with my son here, though. It is quite chilly here unlike in Asia!

@yanzalong Depends. Is it a national road where vehicles often pass by? If yes, NOPE. But if it is a fairly "safe" road, then yes. It just depends how rough it gets and then I will assess whether to stop him from playing further. Sometimes, kids need to learn to have a bruise to obey

Yes my mom was very strict, but she allowed us to play under the rain on one condition. The rain should be a strong one and not just drizzling. Drizzling rain won't get you wet enough causing you to get sick when you don't take a shower immediately. But a rain shower is just similar to taking a shower. I never experienced getting sick from that. So i allowed my son to enjoy the rain too sometimes. IN that case, he didn't miss any fun during childhood days.
