A lot of time this question has crossed my mind and often i ponder about this topic. I mean why do we work? To earn money, to earn livelihood, to get better at something, to contribute to bigger scheme of things in our own way, to feel part of the something big, to keep our self busy.. why do you work, i'm excited to know.

I work because I do not expect the government or anyone else to feed me and pay my rent. I work because I want to learn new things everyday. I work because I want to save for rainy days. I work because it is one of my cravings and it makes me happy.

People mostly work for the money no? The sad thing is , not many people can work in what they're interested in

I think it's all about choices. Every one has a choice to do the work they are interested in but i think it takes a bit of courage and that's where most people back out

@vksgaur An interesting comment. Does that mean that in India everyone finds the job they're interested in provided they show a bit of courage (what would that be?)?

I need to find work because if I don't, my son won't be able to go to school.

I retired after 27 years as a secretary at our local health dept. Now I work part-time as a product demonstrator which I really enjoy. But my favorite way to spend my time is with my husband and kids and grandkids!

We work to earn livelihood, the most basic reason, but what work we do is most important. It is said " If you do not do what you love, start loving what you do".
