Twitter vs Facebook

Today in school we were asked this question that what is the difference between facebook and twitter. A guy answered that facebook is the place be in contact with the people you went to school with and twitter is to follow people who you wish you had gone school with.
I was keen about the feature differences between them. Do you know any?
And also why twitter when we had facebook which is almost same in features?

Not much.. I guess what I only notice is that in Facebook you could siet the pricavcy of the account. Not really much sure with twitter.

Yes right. That is why I was wondering why twitter when we had facebook that does almost the same thing.

@amitextramoney I don't tweet much. Or maybe I just used of using Facebook more often than twitter.

I don't know their differences because I don't use either of the above-mentioned sites.
