A New Use for Tab Tops

Have you ever collected the tab tops from soda cans? No? Neither have I. However, someone must have ... and they came up with a creative way to use them. Rather than making strings of them to hang across a fraternity house wall, I have to say that the sweater in the picture above is pretty inventive.

That's pretty creative. I can't imagine it would be very nice to wear though.

Someone actually bought that "jacket!" I went by the store the day after I took this photo, and it is already gone. Amazing!

@JudyEv - I agree that it is probable that this pop top vest would get caught on everything ... you hair, other clothing, etc. It is fascinating, though!

@DeborahDiane I should think it would get caught in everything for starters.

Yes, and it reminds me of the Hippie 1960s.

Ha Ha! I used to make jewelry out of watermelon seeds back in the 1960s.

I had no idea they could make a wheelchair out of the metal in those tab tops, but that makes sense. After all, wheelchairs are made from aluminum sometimes, and it could be recycled cans.

It is a unique and imaginative sweater. I collect soda tabs but for charity. My father in law brings them somewhere (sorry, I do not remember where) and these go to eventually buy a wheelchair for a needy person with a disability. I think it is a good cause to help with.

That is wonderful that they could be used to buy a wheelchair for a needy person with a disability. I hope the person who bought the pop top vest will donate it someday to help others!

Do they still even make cans with tabs like that. The last tab pushed into the can if I'm not mistaken!

Actually, some of the cosplayers use soda tabs to make faux-chainmail. I was saving them for a friend, but she moved on to another fandom before she made the stuff.
