Here We Go Again

According to the digital goddess, Kim Komando, Google, Yahoo, and Amazon accounts have all been hacked. We should not only change all our passwords, but also enable 2-step verification using a cell phone. Great! There go my blog posts tonight. Finished Amazon, but AT&T isn't so easy. They don't just give me a verification code by text, they text a link to click, and as far as I know, my dumb phone doesn't have internet access. I am so glad I don't have AT&T for anything here but my email address. I hate dealing with them. Guess I'll just get hacked. Still have Google to deal with tonight, and my whole life is there. Hackers must really enjoy making everyone miserable.

Too bad more people don't want to earn an honest living. Instead they try to take what little others have.

Sometimes Hackers change the world like Snowden.

@okodoko I'm still not sure where I stand on what Snowden did.

aren't those big companies the hackers themselves too?

I've seen it on the news, but I get Kim's newsletters and since she's considered an expert in all things digital, I learn a lot from her.

They are probably the largest phone company around the USA. Most of the others come later. They are the only supplier of anything but dial-up connections in some rural areas.

I hate their voice menu when you need to call them. It's almost impossible to get a real person until you are ready to scream.

@OldRoadsOnceTraveled Same here. It's half the reason I want to live here instead of at home. I can get Charter cable here. At home there is only AT&T DSL or expensive satellite companies.

@bagarad I only have the 2 big guys, and I've been very unsatisfied in my dealings with both.

Hi Barbara, Nice to see you back on mylot. I guess that I am just going to have to take my chances with the hackers. I can't keep up with my passwords as it is and now this .... Have you heard about hackers breaking into a computer and holding the information hostage until one pays a ransom?

Good to see you here, too. I've been back for quite a while but haven't seen you around. I hadn't heard of the ransom scheme. Honestly, it's enough to make me about ready to unplug and sit around and read all the time like my mom did at my age.

That's really bad. It's not very easy to change our passwords all the time.

I changed my password and security questions, but was not able to verify. I don't need the stress of dealing with that voice menu.

I hate hackers!! They have no care for anyone but themselves and they really need to learn when to just walk away and go away and stop! Hope you are not hacked and everything works out well for you in the end with this

Me, too. I still have a couple of other sites to deal with.
