I want to know if it is possible to light match under water or damp cigarette with match..(without microwaving) Or talk to my father So..the aunt is feeling better - that is the update. Now my hurdle this morning was to convince the gentleman that there is problem with flush tank. Its been about 1 year? Can't I do it? Of course. But ......... we live in male dominated society my dears! I say Dad the flush tank in my bathroom is leaking...it has cracked He says No it is not leaking..(without checking) I say It is. As it is we have water and power problems...let us change it.. He says It may just be problem with the ball. I say No. He says Yes. Dad goes and does something to the ball and says well it WILL NOT LEAK. Half an hour later... It still leaks.. I say Dad the flush tank in my bathroom is leaking Dad says No it is not. (again without checking). And the impossibility of it all.. 'coz if I pull out the money from bank and do something about it, there is going to be WORLD WAR III right here in my home. I find communicating with men in my life...including my little hero..IMPOSSIBLE.

Start using the one in his bathroom. And close the incoming water in yours. That would not waste more water. *peace is always the best way, I dont prefer wars at homes.

His bathroom I left ages ago...it stinks. The sunk floor leveling is all wrong...dad's sense of smell has taken a beating ...he can't feel the stink at all! And when I ask him to get it repaired..no..when I ask for at least an exhaust fan..no...sometimes World War III is worth it I feel. I seem to be sacrificing everything for peace at home...:(

@vandana7 Kids They do all that anyway. and the more I try telling them not to do something, somehow it becomes their top priority to do it all over again

Sometimes you just need to make some changes on the way you communicate with people. Convincing people is always a challenge and we simply need to dig into our resourcefulness to bring the message across. We are human and we are imperfect - like in your case, I felt that you just need to physically show the evidence of your point. If all else fails, then it might just be that you are simply not the right person to convey the point of fact. Then you will need to call in the "Calvary".

You should move to a country where the world is dominated by women. Then let me know when you find one.

Take a glass of water. Ask your dad to hold it at some height. Light a match under the glass. There, you have done it!

If it is leaking there will be a puddle on the floor? Surely your father wouldn't be able to dispute that. It's hard for me to get my head round the fact that you don't feel able to just get it fixed, though of course I do understand that your culture is different.
