Thinking about what to write to entertain you I started thinking about some of my all time favorite songs and realized that songs are greatly associated with lots of different memories. The title of this post refers to the song “Glory Days” by Bruce Springsteen. It is the one song that reminds me of my high school days and my friends and the crazy times we had. We all went to Fort Hamilton High School which sits atop of a hill overlooking the Narrows and Lower New York Bay in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. If you exited the school by the official front door you would see a spectacular view of the bay shimmering in the sun. However we teens had other things concerning us and we always used the back entrance which came out to the driveway and the sport fields. Our high school days were in the 70s and they were days of sighing over teen idols. You know that is one thing that I would never change having the chance to live during such a time. My girlfriends and I would buy up all the teen magazine we could find like Tiger Beat and 16. You know our favorite idol was David Cassidy and we could never get enough of his songs. I now go into the Internet and look at the sites for these magazines and I have to smile at the many memories. One of my best high school girlfriends wound up living close to David Cassidy in Florida. She relived the thrill of her teen years by driving past his house and writing to me about it. We were never a crazy bunch. We did what teenagers normally did those days. After school we gathered at our favorite pizza place and fed the juke box all of the quarters we had. Do you remember juke boxes? Greatest thing ever invented. If we weren’t there we gathered at my mom’s apartment and played our favorite records and just had a good time. So this song “Glory Days” has always reminded me of this time and given me something to smile about.

We have a great DVD of Bruce Springsteen in his young days at the Black and White Club with a host of other famous names - Roy Orbison (it was Roy's concert), Elvis Costello, k.d.lang and others.
