Cell Phone vs Brush Hog

For those of you who may not know, a brush-hog is a large heavy duty mower blade that you put behind a tractor. It is used to mow large areas and heavy brush that a regular mower just can't handle. Hubby uses his brush-hog to mow the front acre of our property. After hubby came in from mowing he noticed that his cell phone was not in the holster that he keeps hooked onto his pants. I like the fact that he keeps his cell phone with him while he is brush-hogging in case something happens, he can call me for help. Of course, there is always the possibility of it falling off and getting lost. Well, that exact thing happened, he couldn't find his cell phone. I called his phone and it went directly to voice-mail. This was not a good sign! We got on the golf cart and drove to the front of the property. The grass and wildflowers had gotten so tall that it could have been baled for hay! We drove around, hoping that we would spot it without having to dig through all the grass. After only about 10 minutes, hubby spotted something in the grass. It was a part of his phone. We dug around in the dead grass and found the rest of it in about 10 pieces. Luckily, he had insurance on his phone, although it still cost him $149. to have it replaced. From now on, he is going to have to find a better place to keep his cell phone while he is brush-hogging!

Oh dear! We knew a guy who rolled his quad bike and his phone fell just out of reach. He had quite serious injuries but luckily lived to ride another day. It's good that the phone was insured.

@sgbrown I'm not all keen on mobile phones but they certainly have their uses.

@JudyEv It's always good to have your cell phone with you. Hopefully, it stays close to you. When hubby had his motorcycle accident, he was able to call his son who lived nearby. Aaron was there within about 5 minutes and he insisted that they call an ambulance. Hubby was ok, but I sure was glad he was able to call for help! Glad the guy was able to ride another day!

He might have to make a special case for a new phone so i it won't fall out.

@AbbyGreenhill It seems that they don't make a holster that will fit when he puts a protective case on it. We are going to try a "Blackberry" case and see if that will work.

This cell phone is fairly large and he is afraid it will fall out of his pocket. He did some more mowing yesterday and left it at home. We hope to find a holster that will hold it tightly! We can't afford to pay for another one!

A bummer all right. I guess his phone was not "securely" hooked enough.

No, @marlina the holster was getting really old and apparently didn't stay fastened. He got his new phone yesterday and we are going to town today to try to find a good holster for it.
