This is not a discussion on whether per say. I will tell you about where I grew up and where I live now. I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I do not know if any of you have heard of it. It is in the midwestern part of the United States and 8 hours by car from Chicago, IL. It seems like winter lasts forever and summer is very short. It is very very cold there. They do not shut anything down unless there is real blizzard conditions. It is very cold outside, but, inside it is very hot. I remember I had to open the window because it is so was so hot in my apartment. Now, here in Israel our winter season is when it rains. We get rain at times other times of the year too. We have different climates here in the country. We have Eilat in the South where alot of people like to go to get away from winter. It snows on the Hermon which is a mountain in the Golan which is in the North for skiing. In Jerusalem we get snow and things close down. We have had winters where we did not have electricity for a certain amount of time and no phone and no water. It was not nice because here it is cold both inside and outside. In my building we have to provide our own heating. I have a radiator that I was move from room to room and a heater. It is not as cold as Minneapolis, but, it can get cold here. I remember learning Hebrew in one place in the winter and they had one small heater and it was only in the front and I sat in the back and it was very cold. I would like to hear what the weather is like in your countries.

I'm from the mid west as well, both Michigan, and Indiana have been weird with their weather one day it's hot, and the next day it's cold. It's never the same temperature at all. Today it was pretty nice, but earlier this week it was cold, and we needed a heavy sweatshirt.

@Hannihar Very interesting! Weather has actually been on my mind a lot lately because it seems the whole world is experiencing odd weather. Even here lately, it feels like the seasons are all a month behind. Winter took some time to actually hit and has lasted longer than normal. And even right now, we are having a thunderstorm that wasn't even expected to happen. Literally came out of nowhere.

a friend moved from here which is tropical, just sun and rain, to minnesota many years ago so she had a hard time adjusting to the cold at first. but i heard from another friend recently that they're now in texas. i didn't know israel had different climates depending on which region you live. would you prefer rain or snow during the winter?

I can understand why it was hard to adjust to the weather in Minnesota. My last winter there before I sold my car I cleaned off the car and then went into a place and came out had to clean the snow again and was very happy that was my last winter there. I prefer rain because we needed it very much for the country. The only time it is suppose to rain here in Israel is in the winter. We have nice weather usually till about November or December. It has rained in October too. We have different climates in different cities. Tel Aviv is warmer than Jerusalem and Eilat has nice weather in the winter. It is like in the States people went to Florida in the winter. Here they go to Eilat and The Harmon in the Golan gets snow for skiing.
