She saved a parents life, and now she could be terminated!

Do you guys remember me telling you about the tree and powerline that fell on my 2nd cousin's school bus? I hear from my aunt that the school bus driver could be fired for letting my cousin on during the storm. Instead of getting a recognized for what she did, she's getting reprimanded and I find that truly awful. Obviously I see both sides, why it can be a danger to have parents on the school bus, but I don't feel as if this calls for the bus driver to be fired. My uncle works for the school system though, and so he is going to try to do what he can to prevent her from being fired. He can't do much, but he can voice his opinion and that might very well be what saves the woman's job. Ridiculous that it has come to this!

Sometimes rules are meant to be broken. It is a very flawed rule for sure because there should be exceptions and this one is something that can be justified.

@ScribbledAdNauseum If there will be people who will back her up and so a petition, there could be a difference.

@CaptAlbertWhisker It would be even better if all of the children's parents signed the petition as well.

I couldn't have said it better myself! I hope they reconsider, but as far as I know at this time, they won't.

During a storm a bus driver can't pick up someone? That is stupid.

The bus was not in motion either. From what I understand, the wind had picked up and the driver told my cousin to get on the bus to get her daughter. My cousin had no sooner gotten on than a tree and powerline fell onto the bus. The school system apparently wants to look at the technicality rather than the big picture.

@ScribbledAdNauseum ....That's a shame. I think I would have done the same thing in the case of a storm.

Yes, I think that's quite ridiculous too. Sometimes I wonder if the "rule" or system is more important than a life. Hope your uncle can do something for the woman.

Such a ridiculous thing. Sometimes we have to bend the rules to save another person's life. How can they be so cruel?

THe way it was, the bus driver was just letting her on the bus to get her kid. It was very very windy out. The tree and power line did not fall until AFTER my cousin was already on the bus. I guess the officials want to look at the technicalities of it.
