I've heard, from a very reliable source, that when cats get themselves in trouble, it generally means they are bored. Well, we moved from a 7 room home with a full basement and a lovely sun room into a two room apartment. No more flights of stairs going anywhere, no racing from room to room. And I had to be a little inventive when it came to setting up this place. She loves being up high. Okay, we're on the 13th floor. But it's not the same to her. She still needs to be on top of things. She sleeps on top of one of the tall dressers in my bedroom and then leaps onto my bed (mostly when I'm in it, of course). I have to be careful where I put any collectibles because they might be in her way! The one thing she always does is turns on my cpap machine! I'm not in the bedroom that much, normally. When I'm in there, I'm usually using my machine to help me to keep breathing. But when I go into the restroom, I pass my bedroom. And now I'm getting used to hearing that "hissssssssss" of the air escaping my machine! She climbs over it and hits the "on" button. And that means that she uses up all the water that I had put in the machine. Distilled water that I get from my pharmacy. And yes, tonight, as I was racing to the restroom, I heard the hissing and no matter how badly I had to "go", I stopped to shut off my machine. I do have something in my kitchen that I use to make a double layer of things on one shelf. I'm going to take that out of my kitchen and see if it will fit over the top of my machine. In that way, she'll be walking on that thing instead of the top of my machine. *sigh* She's still the boss of me! And I'm still trying to come up with inventive ways of working around her so we can both be (relatively) happy! -Claudia- image from pixabay

Are you not able to close the door when you need to leave the bedroom. It does sound like she is the boss. lol

@CRK109 That is good then you have found something to put over the machine.

Well, sure I could close the door. But we only have two rooms and it would seem silly for me to keep one door closed. As I said, I found something to put over the machine so she can't do that anymore. She may be the boss but I'm learning to make her work harder! lol

My moggies are getting on a bit and like to spend the day snoozing, but in their younger days they liked a bit of mischief

That's a big down-size there. Downsizing is in my near future as well.

You should probably build like a mini staircase on the wall or get a scratch post. Meow. That way she can be up high but not on your machine.

I'm not allowed to do anything to the walls in this apartment, but I do have high dressers that she can climb and she has huge window sills where she can sit and watch out the windows.

Your cat thinks it is the boss. And she probably is.

She is so spoiled. But she's all I have now so I don't really mind.

People who own cats (or are owned by them) generally have to 'work around them' it seems to me

We bought 2 cat towers for our girls to help them with being bored. They have come in handy. We got them marked down. Mike has thought of making some different things to join to the two towers together. Have a blessed day

I have a gorgeous cat tree back at our old house. There's no room for it here.

She's way more fun than annoying. I just love writing about her because she can be so amusing.

Maybe's a trouble maker that enjoys knocking things down, but Baby's our fat lump. If she knocks something down it's because it was in her lay down space. When Maybe was a kitten she used to play with the chain to the lamp and turn it on and off.
