I read this question and wonder how you guys would answer... If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?

I agree with the person above me. Just because a person is diffrent doesn't mean they are not a person. No, I don't think she should, but she should work on closing her legs more often.

yes, actually it's that question that if you said 'yes', you've just killed Beethoven :)

Wow! what a misfortune! i would strongly suggest that she go for the abortion...though religion said otherwise..but i think she got her hand full with 8 children, and there's very high chances that the child she's carrying may be abnormal too..

I think that it would be entirely her choice...being deaf, blind or mentally/cognitively impaired does not make a person less human than a fully able-bodied and able-minded person. I'd (obviously) recommend treatment for syphilis though, regardless of whether she decided to terminate the pregnancy. (By the way, this isn't one of those "if you said yes, you just killed Martin Luther King" questions, is it?)

I definitely think that she should have the abortion depending on what part of the pregnancy she's in. Usually I'm not for abortion, but with her track record, why would anyone want to take the chance of bringing another handicapped child into the world. Any woman who would let herself get pregnant under these circumstances is obviously not of a mindset to care for the children she already has, much less another one. The foster care system is already overwhelmed with disabled children that no one wants to care for.

but it's not a sure thing that the baby would be handicapped, right?

Has she always had syphillis? Is this why her other children have special problems? Kokopellis rule!!!!!

I would not recommend an abortion. Who would want to kill Beethoven??? His music is the greatest!

I don't know. I would deffinitely recommend she have her tubes tied. Yes I would probably recommend she have an abortion. For the childs sake.

normally, that's the first thing that comes to mind, but on second thoughts (for me), it's still a life, a kid, a person who deserves a chance to see the world.

I think that one should probably be left in God's hands. If the baby is meant to be born healthy and her syphilis still allows her to carry the baby to term the it was meant to be. God will take the child early if it's not meant to be. It would be hard for me to suggest someone get an abortion - she could be carrying the person that finds the cure for Aids or Cancer. The first woman president! You just never know. :O)

that is a really tough question...i am not for abortion.. definitely not , but having what she has..man!!! it's basically a decision that you have to take for the liofe of that unborn child!! If you try to put yourself in her shoes.... it's even more difficult. I would first say she is the one that did a huge mistake - letting herself become pregnant , so she should take the abortion!! it is acrime, but she has to take the responsability ! i hope i wasn't to hard on her...

yes, it's a tough Q indeed. most anti-abortion would really think twice given this scenario.

This one was hard to come up with an answer for. If the doctors knew that something like that would be wrong with the baby then i might consider it but if not then no way! I'm not going to take the chance of aborting a perfectly healthy baby.

it's good that nowadays we got high technology and medical eqpts to determine that.
