Best summer activities to keep kids busy?

Does anyone have some good suggestions on activities to do with young children ( ages 7, 5, 4, and 2) over summer break to keep them busy. Anything would be helpful.

Decades ago, children drew, painted and cut. Now it seems that a tablet is more helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am really trying to get them away from tablets and video games as they will have plenty of time for that on rainy or extremely hot days that we can't get out and do much.

A wading pool for one. Hikes in nature for another. And of course arts and crafts projects.
