I Love the Thunder

All day the dark clouds were hanging around, but it was not until about an hour ago that it began to rain. I could hear the steady beat on the roof, and distant rumble of thunder. Suddenly the sky opened up, and we had quite a dramatic downpour, complete with booming thunder, proceeded only briefly by flashes of lightening. Hailstones about the size of marbles came down for about ten minutes. Now the thunderstorm has passed, leaving a steady rain in its wake. I will leave you with a song. “You Love the Thunder” is by Jackson Browne. It is off his 1977 album Running on Empty.

@norcal - We do get some good rain during the summer, but yeah, I'm ready for hot sunshine.

@norcal so I guess we both have to enjoy them, when they do come.

Yes, thunder can be wonderful! Here it is just the wind and floods we don't care for so much.

It didn't seem to hurt the cars at all. It could have really hammered a young garden though.

It is kind of exciting. Just dreary rain can get tiresome, but I love a good storm.

There was some thundering going on earlier and now the rain has made its way back. I'm glad because it cools things down a bit. I kind of like thunderstorms but can do without the tornadoes. It seems thunderstorms are making rounds. Have a great rest of the week.

I love the thunder too. I was very much into Jackson Browne in my high school days. Will give this tune a listen. I have this album (on LP!) but can't remember the song. I'll recognize it the the first note plays.

We are getting a lot of rain now with intermittent thunderstorms too. We're into winter here but we still get sunny days in between the rain.

It has been a pretty cool and wet spring for us here. It is welcome, because we have been in drought conditions for the past few years.

I love the thunder too. My husband always thinks the plants in the garden love the lightening.
