United States Government Still Using 1970s Floppy Disks

I was just reading an article about how the US nuclear weapons program is still using machines/disks from the 1970s. After some reflection, my opinion about this is actually mixed. At first, my thought was "way to waste my tax dollars." However, after some more thought, I realized this might not necessarily be a bad thing. Those computers, while outdated, are definitely much more secure than today's models, which always seem to get hacked. And, given what they do, that's probably a good thing. Of course, one concern I would have is whether or not future generations will understand that old technology enough to actually be able to use it.

You make an interesting point about security, but then I have to wonder how easily such machines could be hacked using today's tech? One would hope their programmers have implemented security protocols, byt I wonder just how much they can do with those old dinosaurs...
