Memorial Day is this weekend, what does that mean to you? For some it's the end of school and the start of summer. For others it's a day off. For many more it's all about the sales and shopping deals. First and foremost Memorial Day is meant to be a day of remembrance for those who have served and died in the military here in the United States but as most holidays tend to do it's not just a day of that anymore. What does Memorial Day mean to you? What do you do for Memorial Day? There's no wrong answer really. I remember growing up in school I was always in band and usually on Memorial Day we'd go to the local cemetery and play in honor of fallen soldiers. Now Memorial Day for me has been a day of starting off summer.

When I worked I looked forward to the time off since the pools always opened that weekend. Since I'm older and wiser I know the true meaning of the day.

it's the same here. when there's a long holiday people think of going to the malls (because malls also schedule their sales to take advantage) or go out of town, even out to nearby asian countries, if they've availed of promo flights offered several months prior.

Being basically retired it has little personal meaning to me in terms of having a 3 day weekend.
