You need targeted traffic,will give you an example
Someone looking for a girl`s clothes will not visit your site if your site is about clothes and if they do, they will not make any purchase because they will not find what they are looking for, people online dont have too much time to check a website.
Another example
Someone looking for Tennis shoes will not exactly visit a sports website and if they do,very unlikely to make a purchase, they are more likely to visit sports shoes website.
Join forums,leave comments in authority sites in your niche and you may be lucky they link back to you.This is so long if i started to explain, i will be here tomorrow.hope this helps

You gave me an idea. 
So, this means that once we already have a blog of our own, we should also read others blog and hopefully they will visit our site too. I think it takes many years for a blog to receive some earnings? As for now, I am eyeing to have a blog of my own but I do not want to think of earning from it too soon or I might just get disappointed.

I have read multiple success stories of people making six figure incomes through blogging but I have yet to see the proof. Who knows,it could happen. Anything is possible.
