Last month my boss hired a lady Outdoor Sales Executive. Everything was okay until the last final steps in getting her working visa was not approved. Why? The reason was the immigration people detected that this lady has a case due to her Credit Card, that she was not able to pay the dues she has. The bank, filed a case against her that's why my boss cannot continue to process her working visa. In here, when a company process a working visa there are already charges/fees and it cost a lot for them to get those. My boss got angry with her, because she did not tell him about her situation. She told him when he already know about her problem. My boss wanted to help her, but because of what she did. He refused to do so. What can you say about the lady? How about my boss? Does their actions are appropriate for a situation like this?

I used to work in Dubai before I moved here, and I know that she is lucky to have a boss like that willing to help her out. As a matter of fact, some employers are actually wary of even interviewing potential applicants with records like that - their reasoning is if they cannot handle their own finances, how are they gonna handle the company's (I worked in the Accounting department). I guess if she was only transparent about the whole thing, there is a chance that the boss will be able to help her out properly. It is one thing if the boss is reluctant to help out, but that is the risk that she has to take given her wrong decisions in the past.

You're right, transparency is one thing. That's the reason why I am sharing this to all myLotters. If ever they have experienced like this. It's better to tell everything honestly first so that no conflict will come in the future. Right now, we are looking for new Sales Executive. Hopefully we can get one with a good records. Happy Sunday!

My boss is very generous, actually he even let her borrow money for her to go to the bank and settle the case. Though it's not the full amount that my boss gave to her because she is just new. But still, she did not update my boss the progress of the the situation. She will only come and call him if she needs money again. That's why I can't blame him to get to be angry at this lady. :(

My first thought about the situation is that she may have truly not realized that the case against her would lead to her visa being denied. Of course, if she didn't know that, it's her fault. When you're applying for a job overseas, you have to make sure that you do all the appropriate research and make sure you meet immigration standards as well as the qualifications for the job.

I think that's why she was not hired since last December 2015 because of this. Her previous working visa lasted on that month. Then she applied to our company last April and now this problem is up.

The lady should have told the boss first thing. Her own fault.
