Many of us have pets who try and help us with our work on the computer. Smooch is no exception. But this time he's in disgrace. He didn't try to help me on the computer, he tried to take it over altogether. Some of you may remember this photo from a couple of years ago. He loved to get as close as he could to the laptop. But he hasn't been up there on the table for ages. Consequently I have become lazy and stopped putting the laptop lid down at night. This morning, as I was drawing back the curtains I got a fright. There was Smooch, sound asleep on the laptop keyboard. He lifted his head as if to ask, why are you disturbing me? I stayed calm, lifted him gently and put him on the floor. He purred, as if to say, thanks for the nice bed last night Mum. Guess who will remember to close the laptop lid from now on!

Have you checked on his nightly activities? Maybe he deleted important messages or wrote something. Or chatted with underage kittens on you-know-what-kind-of sites !

I wonder why cats are attracted to keyboards. I've read of several who keep walking across it or trying to lie on it, like Smooch.

@valmnz Nope. I built cushioned benches for in front of all the windows; plus the couch, chair, kitchen table, beds and the floors. It's usually me that has to try and find a place to sit.

LOVE the name Smooch! I learned a long time ago to keep my cat off my keyboard. There is some key that she seems to hit as often as she can and it turns my screen upside down! Then it takes me forever to figure out how to get it rightsideup again! lol If only sleeping was the only thing she did here....

@valmnz My cat seems to think she's the boss of me so even when I'm sleeping, if she wants me to wake up, she makes sure I do! lol I only let her get away with it now because I'm retired.

What a handsome gentleman. Right after we adopted our Siamese gentleman from the local shelter he busied himself, chewing up thin computer wires. He got a talking to of course.

I think we're all softies when it comes to our pets. I miss mine so much. I'm unable to get another. There are rentals that allow them, but the fees are astronomical.
