Independency - What age?

Do you think children age 3-5 need to be independent in way of eat alone dress alone wipe their ass alone drink for a cup exc'? I see small kids age 3 still being fed by their mommy's or helpers! I see small kids age 3-4 still wering diapers...

My husband's nephew is still being fed and drinks milk in a baby bottle at the age of 4! And wearing diaper too. And his parents are both nurses!

And what do you think about it? And How do they justified it? I realy do not think it is ok to be fed by bottle at the age of 4...

At the age of 3-5 I had my daughter feeding herself, dressing herself, wiping her bottom, and drinking from a cup. To be wearing a diaper at this age is ridiculous. They need to be doing these things for themselves to teach independence.

@veredra I know people like that and when ask about it they say when the child gets ready they will do it. Umm no, not unless you enforce it and teach it. I started potty training my daughter at 1 1/2 yrs old.

True. But fact is that most of the kids are wareing diapers and you know why? In my.opinion is because parents are lazy.

Our 3 year old nephew can fed himself. He can eat alone. Take a bath all by himself.

Very good, but I think it is little bit early for bath alone. May be he can play in the bath while some one is watching him...
